Statue of David Pen/Stationary Holder
thingiverse
I was determined to create a pen holder that would make a bold statement on my desk, so I decided to take the 3D scan of the Statue of David by fabskill and turn it into something truly unique. I started by adding a sturdy base to the model, hollowing out the interior and cutting off the top at an angle to ensure stability, even when filled with objects. To give my pen holder some extra support, I added unnecessary but helpful supports that might break during printing, but will definitely help keep the bottom of the print steady. Treating the finished product with acetone adds a nice touch, making it look even more impressive. For an added touch, I anchored the pen holder to my desk using blu-tac, which isn't strictly necessary, but helps prevent the light-weight holder from shifting around. To get the best results, print at 100% infill or another high value since the model has already been hollowed out, and be sure not to enable vase mode as it will mess up the bottom. To match my desk, I printed the pen holder in white, giving it a sleek and modern look. Printer Settings CTC Replicator Dual Rafts: Yes Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 100% Notes: No supports were necessary since they were already included in the STL. I print with rafts just to make removal from the heated bed easier, but it's not essential.
