This stunning statue of Aspelta, meticulously scanned at the esteemed Kerma Museum in Sudan, was crafted during his illustrious reign in the Kingdom of Kush, dating back to around 600 - 580 BC. As a mighty ruler, Aspelta adopted titles heavily influenced by those of the revered Egyptian Pharaohs: His Horus name proudly proclaimed Neferkha ("Whose Appearances are Beautiful"), an epithet that echoed through his Nebty Name as well. The Golden Horus Name boldly declared Userib ("Whose heart is strong"), a testament to his unwavering resolve. His Prenomen, Merykare ("Re is one whose ka is loved"), resonated with the affection of his people, while his Nomen, Aspelta, stood as a powerful symbol of his unyielding spirit. Thanks to the numerous stelae he left behind, meticulously carved with vivid accounts of his reign, we now possess a deeper understanding of this remarkable ruler and his enduring legacy.
