Statue of Asclepius
myminifactory
This Roman replica of Asclepius was crafted in the 4th century BC, attributed to the renowned sculptor Timotheos; an identical version of this masterpiece is proudly displayed at The Louvre as Ma 639. Asclepius, revered as the god of medicine, held significant stature as patron deity and ancestral figure of the esteemed Asklepiades (Asclepiades), a legendary association of skilled physicians. His parentage boasted Apollon, the illustrious god, and Koronis (Coronis), a beautiful princess from Triccaea. This exquisite statue was acquired by Collezione Cernazai in 1900 from Gia Grimani.
