Statue of Apollo with his Lyre
myminifactory
The iconic representation of Apollo, seated proudly on a rock with his left hand cradling a lyre, draws heavily from Hellenistic prototypes and strikingly mirrors the companion piece placed directly across from it. Despite significant revisions, the original section of this statue can be accurately dated to the early part of the 2nd century AD. The substantial restorations undertaken in the 17th century are attributed to Ippolito Buzio, who drew inspiration for the head from the renowned Apollo Belvedere statue. This remarkable artifact is part of "Scan The World," a groundbreaking non-profit initiative launched by MyMiniFactory, which seeks to create a comprehensive digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe for public access at no cost. Scan The World is an open-source community effort, and individuals with intriguing items they'd like to contribute are encouraged to email stw@myminifactory.com to discover how they can play a role in this ambitious project.
