Originally placed within the temple of Amen-Re in Luxor (the ancient city of Thebes), this masterpiece was crafted in Egypt during the 18th dynasty under Amenhotep III's rule (1390-1352 BC). Carved from black granite, the sculpture now resides in the exterior garden at the Luxor Museum.
