Statue of a woman as Ceres

Human: In ancient Roman mythology, Ceres was a powerful goddess of agriculture, grain crops, fertility, and maternal relationships. She was originally the central deity in Rome's Aventine Triad, later paired with her daughter Proserpina in the Greek-inspired rituals of Ceres. Her seven-day festival of Cerealia in April included the popular Ludi Ceriales (Ceres' games), while she was also honored at the Ambarvalia festival in May and during Roman marriage and funeral ceremonies. Ceres is the only agricultural deity from Rome's vast pantheon to be listed among the Dii Consentes, equivalent to Greece's Twelve Olympians. Romans viewed her as a counterpart to Demeter, whose mythology was creatively reinterpreted for Ceres in Roman art and literature.
