The statue showcases a youthful Muse draped in a mantle, resting against a sturdy Rock pillar while lost in contemplative thought. Her left hand cradles a papyrus scroll, an emblem of her artistic prowess. Although it's unclear whether this is Polimnia, the figure bears a striking resemblance to one of Philiskos of Rhodes' Muses from the second century B.C., which was likely replicated and brought to Rome in later times.
