Statue of a Kore
myminifactory
The young woman stands tall with her left leg confidently advanced, mirroring the poses found in well-known korai statues from the Athenian Akropolis. Her left hand firmly grasps a fold of her delicate linen chiton, pulling it snugly across her legs; her right hand likely held out an offering to someone nearby. The short himation (cloak) draped diagonally over her right shoulder and under her left arm falls in neat, stacked folds. This distinctive type of dress originated in the East Greek cities along the coast of Asia Minor.
