Statua Foro Romano

In the ancient heart of Assisi's Forum, now preserved within the Civic Museum, stands a striking sculpture - the relic of a robed figure unearthed during excavations preceding Minerva's temple in 1836. This imposing statue depicts a person clad in a short-sleeved tunic and an expansive toga, accompanied by a cylindrical container holding codices and rolls positioned beside their left leg, indicative of someone who held public office. Although its head and arms have vanished over time, it is unmistakably clear that this monument was erected to pay tribute to a respected Roman citizen.
