My son wanted to have a train station for his Maerklin My World set, so I thought I could also combine that with the PET bottle challenge.

There was only one PET Bottle in the house which was a Thomas Henry Tonic Water bottle that provides two roofs with 125 mm length and 80 mm in diameter. Luckily it was already empty, so I was able to take measurements and start developing without having several drinks first. I only own a Prusa Mini+, so I could not fit both roofs in a single model. Thus I went for a modular build.

Now we have one main hall module which takes the roof (you can print and link as many as you like) and one entry/exit module you should print twice. To hold a whole train, you will need one module per wagon in total.

The models are pretty basic, so a lot of possible future tweaks come to mind, like adding more detail like stairs, benches etc. but currently I have limited time printing. One module takes about 5 hours, and I wanted to see the real-world modules in action before the contest is over. Also, the kids might not really care about more detail and are happy with the state it is in. ;-)

Printing instruction time!

I printed in 0.15 Quality with 10% infill. And I chose the Hilbert Curve as top fill pattern which gives a nice finish for a train station's platform.

As for the roof: Cut open your PET bottle into two halves, remove top and bottom, and push the roof into the port at the top of the main hall module. I fixed them with a few drops of superglue.

To play you assemble all modules by rotating them into eachother, that way I only needed one single model for the entry/exit modules. Slide the tracks inside and have fun!
