Static pressure gauge for blower fans
thingiverse
I bought a cheap 5015 and 4020 blower fans but there was no data on them so I did this simple device to measure static pressure. Requirements: Power source Transparent house with inner dia ~10mm outer dia ~13mm length ~50cm (Biltema 15-314) Rubber band or hair band to fasten the fan to the device Water Tape Pen Good to have: Multimeter (to measure voltage and current) Put everything together according to picture. Poor in some water. Put on some tape. Draw a dot at the water surface. Start fan and wait 5 minutes because it can take long time for the fan to reach its´s maximum speed. Dra new dot on the tape. Measure the distance in mm (mmH2O). Multiply with 9.80665 to get Pa. Measure voltage and current. Multiply voltage and current to get power in Watt. I tested to seal between fan and fan funnel but I didn´t notice any difference so a little leakage doesn’t seem to affect the result much. I picked the 5015 fan for my part cooler solution because of lower rpm and higher pressure. If you post your blower fan data here then I might do some sort of table for common 3d printer blowers.
