Little Moreton Hall is a remarkable moated half-timbered manor house that makes its first recorded appearance in history books back in 1271. The earliest sections of the current building were constructed between 1504 and 1507 by William Moreton, a wealthy Cheshire landowner who spared no expense in building his dream home. Over the next century, successive generations of the Moreton family continued to add to the hall, completing its construction around 1610. The result is a highly unique building with three mismatched ranges forming a small, rectangular courtyard paved with cobblestones. This historic house remained under the ownership of the Moreton family for nearly 450 years before being transferred to the National Trust in 1938.
