Your Sierra not starting? Starter just spinning, not engaging the flywheel? The original Planetary Ring gear system in your starter motor is probably the problem (teeth are stripped to bits) and can't be bought as a separate part over the counter. You'll have to purchase the entire starter for $75-$140 plus a core charge. Buying a used starter might land you in the same situation, so fix what you've got! Works with DENSO 2800339, ACDELCO 3361752A and BOSCH SR3279X starter motor part numbers. Some alternative/OEM starter motor part number(s) this ring gear will fit are 2800397, 281000A010, 281000H090, 281000H091, 4280001080, 88975515, 88864511. Anyway, the original part is likely to fail or strip over time due to normal wear and tear, temperature fluctuations, and poor internal lubrication from the manufacturer. This Ring Gear replaces the original inert in the starter perfectly, with a 0.1mm tolerance as it should. The three planet gears fit perfectly with the Ring Gear. Don't forget the lube! Use lots of grease between the three planet gears, shaft, and ring gear during reassembly.
