Starrett Level Box (98-4)

Starrett Level Box (98-4)

This design accommodates Metric standards. This rectangular box was created to safeguard the Starrett level 98-4 and its cardboard packaging. The case can undoubtedly be repurposed for any rectangular-shaped object that requires protection. As you can see in the accompanying images, the level and box fit snugly into the plastic protective casing. I reinforced the exterior of the case with gorilla tape to enhance its durability, although it was not necessary as the box itself proved strong enough to function effectively. SPECIAL PRINTING HINT When designing this case, I deliberately left a 0.25mm gap between the outer and inner box walls. Although this approach worked, the clearance was somewhat tight, so you may need to perform some sanding if your printer produces artifacts or imperfections. My recommendation: Scale the upper/outside box to be 0.75% larger than the inside box. The box that turned out best was when I scaled the bottom box to 100.75% and the upper box to 101.5%. This is the configuration depicted in the accompanying images, along with the STL files. I printed this design using ABS on a glass bed, with a layer thickness of 0.3mm, 30% infill, and it took approximately 5 hours to complete.
