Starmaker2-1

Starmaker2-1

Several years ago I developed a routine I called Starmaker for making star-like shapes. Here's an example of how I used that: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5193508. Recently I found an altogether different method for making these kinds of shapes, and I adapted it for 3D printing. So naturally I called it Starmaker2. Starmaker2 can make stars with standard points, rounded points, or points with bulges. I used the latter capability for this design. This design actually uses both star routines. I used the original Starmaker to make the basic 7-pointed start (with rounded points), and then Starmaker2 to modify this star to one that has 64 bulgy points. Because the print requires so many small curves for each layer it took just under 32 hours to print using a print speed of 100 mm/sec. You can scale the STL file down to a smaller size if you want a quicker print, but check the slicer's print preview before printing; if you make the print too small you will get disconnected toolpaths.
