Stargazing owl eyes, 2x magnification astronomy binoculars

Here's a 3D print of my design: Mission Binoculars for Easy Stargazing. Comparable to Vixen Owl Eyes, but at a lower price point. These glasses give you a 4x light increase to your vision when stargazing, without the distortion caused by 8 or 10x binoculars. This pushes the visual magnitude limit of stars and DSOs to +2 from your local magnitude limit. These glasses are based on Chinese cheap teleconverters: https://www.ebay.fr/itm/52mm-2X-Magnification-Telephoto-Tele-Converter-Lens-for-Digital-SLR-Camera/202429645113?hash=item2f21bf4139:g:S~cAAOSwroFbkpoT:rk:17:pf:0 You can find them using these keywords on eBay (the link will not last forever): 52mm 2x teleconverter. Print parameters: 0.4 mm nozzle, 0.2 mm layers, 2-3 walls, infill to 24%, no support needed. Print with the front face of the glasses down on the bed (I don't know why the thumbnail is upside down...). I suggest brim attachment if printing on ABS, as this geometry tends to warp a bit. The optics are pushed into the glasses, which usually results in a tight fit that doesn't require glue. Just make sure to push both optics at once and rest them on a flat surface to ensure optical parallelism. The elastic band is a standard 20 mm clothing elastic band. I strongly recommend adding some soft material (2 mm EPDM foam in my case) to the forehead and nose rests for comfort. Enjoy!
