Starfish

Kids adore my octopus design, prompting requests for a starfish model. To fulfill their wishes, I crafted this using SketchUp, investing time in perfecting its surface. The 3D-printed starfish boasts a topographic appearance and is ideal for Makerbot's flat base. Perhaps a flounder is next on the list! Note: enlarging the print enhances quality. A fascinating observation is that the starfish feet curl up at the ends due to plastic cooling, adding a unique touch. For those seeking variety, check out the Squiggly version as an additional option. To ensure successful printing, I follow a raftless configuration with specific modifications: reducing Object First Layer Feed Rate Infill Multiplier and Permieter Multiplier ratios to 0.5, and increasing Object First Layer Flow Rate Multiplier ratio to 0.9 while disabling Outline feature. These tweaks enhance adhesion to the platform and prevent early layer peeling due to extrusion lines.
