Plagued by early technical issues and despised by flight crews, the P-15 Wildwind stood as the only modern design available in its weight class when the outer rim's mercenary incursions began. It was purchased in bulk at the outbreak of hostilities, only to be quickly sold off in surplus as more advanced pursuit fighters like the P-19 Skyrazor became available. Refit kits produced aftermarket transformed the unreliable and finicky Wildwind into a reliable performer, but their prices remained depressingly low due to its early poor reputation, and cheap Wildwinds found their way into private hands across the galaxy.
