As the conflict raged on in the rim, obsolete or battle-worn G-121s were hastily converted into heavy weapon carriers. This drastic change boosted their firepower forward, enabling them to take on corvettes and heavily armed gunships with confidence. However, the added mass and altered silhouette greatly compromised their legendary ability to withstand damage, leaving them vulnerable to enemy fire. Only a handful of G-122s managed to survive the war intact, while pirates and other groups occasionally scavenge damaged G-121s to create makeshift wartime G-122s.
