The unlovely Skyranger has earned distinction as one of the rare spacecraft designed and manufactured by a ground armored fighting vehicle corporation. Originally developed from a maglev ground attack ship, the AG-90 added advanced spacefaring engines and other components that propelled its heavy, thickly armored hull into the vastness of space. Detested by pilots who prefer sleeker, more agile designs, the AG-90 gained a well-deserved reputation among enthusiasts as a tenacious combatant capable of enduring punishment that would shatter lesser craft. The AG-90 is centered around a Mjolnir-V type rotary cannon, supplemented by external ordnance hardpoints. Variable engine mounts cannot match the agility of a multi-thruster fighter, but enable the AG-90 to excel at loitering in gravity wells of any kind, making them exceptional combat craft that dominate the battlespace of moons and asteroid theaters. The AG-92 version sacrifices the massive nose cannon for a modest internal cargo bay. Initially intended as an assault troop carrier, the few AG-92 conversions were quickly outdone by superior designs and sold off on the civilian market.
