Starbase Orbital Launch Tower "Mechazilla" v4.0.1
thingiverse
---------------------------------------------------------- *Scaling* By default scaled to work with 1:144 Starships. Scaling down the tower to 72% is for 1:200 Starships. ---------------------------------------------------------- *****What's will be next?***** 9/5/2021 update Well, Version 5. "Will keep monitoring the progress of the IRL integration tower and see how it progresses and there will be a whole new publishing for v.5. Will try to narrow v.5 down to catching arm to match IRL design while maintaining strength and functionality." v.4 might get a few new updates coming. I do wanna strengthen some minor aspects of the tower. Like the beams. And some other adjustments. We will see. Might pull a SN16. ;p ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *****v.4.0.1 Release Notes***** - Fixed some minor minor issues with Arm Block. v4.0 was still functional, but v4.0.1 is slightly better. - Fixed arm block pins they where to short so I made them longer. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *****Version 4.0 is here***** New Improved Stronger Catching Arm, should be able to position it up and down using guide rail. (I recommend super glue to glue the arms to the arm block. There are pins to hold the block in place. M5 hole so you would be able to use a (M5 20) or (M5 24) screw instead of the arm block pins. Rebuilt whole structure from ground up with better dimension accuracy. :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Was looking for a Starship Orbital Launch tower and couldn't find one, so I made one. Total height of this tower fully assembled is 975mm. (My Starship I printed is 833mm tall). There is a base section of the tower, and a top. With mid sections for my starship I print about 6 sections. Total of 8 sections including the base and top sections. I also made the catching arm. Which should be fully functional print in place, open/close and twist side to side. I also recommend you use the base supports if you are gonna use the catching arms for the booster or ship itself so it wont fall over from the lopsided weight. I also made a Launch Mount. *this is still work in progress still and it is not perfect in my opinion so feel free to improve or make it better. *In the thumbnail photo the Booster Rocket (not included). I used for reference and looks was made by "AstroNot" Link to his rocket models here. > https://www.thingiverse.com/astronot/designs
