Star wars yt-1360 concept
thingiverse
This is my first built from scratch 3D model. My inspiration came from the Millennium Falcon and the Outrider from Shadows of the Empire. I used Tinkercad to create it, scaling it to match Bandai's 1/144th Millennium Falcon. As a beginner, I made a few mistakes, but the one that matters most is that the engine is slightly higher than it should be. Given its Star Wars heritage and disregard for symmetry, I suspect this only adds to its appeal. I designed the ship with room for detail after printing with plasticard and 3D printed greeblies, which explains its lack of surface detail. There are two versions available: one without a ramp and one with it. Many different printable configurations have been uploaded, including the one I've pictured, which was printed on an MP Mini V2 with a 4x4x4 build surface in eight pieces. The landing gear was remixed from this creator's files (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2500827), and four of them were built. Update: I've added a more detailed version of the ship using files from these creators (https://www.myminifactory.com/object/star-wars-millennium-falcon-hasbro-missing-details-51628) and (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2609670), as well as guns from this creator (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2535503/#files). The guns will require support to print. A dish for the ship was printed, using support and touching the build plate only with Cura. A little sanding is required as it's a friction fit. The landing bay doors are also friction fit but didn't need to be sanded. I initially planned to make the guns friction fit too, but they're so small that I decided either to glue them on or use wire to mount them. Both halves of the ship were printed with 8% infill, 1.2mm thick walls, and without support, except for a few areas where filament droop occurred. The docking rings and forks were primarily affected, but they can be easily fixed by sanding or cutting. I still need to figure out how to add armor plates to the ship's round sections and plan to use 0.010 plastic sheet instead. A link to the plastic I'll be using is available at (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Package-of-4-WHITE-STYRENE-PLASTIC-SHEET-010-THICK-8-X-12/272700619143?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649).
