Star Wars X-wing: AT-AT conversion kit
thingiverse
I wish FFG would create ground vehicles for their X-wing game, but they haven't done so yet. These set of files will enable you to add AT-ATs to your game. You can make up your own rules, but for casual and scenario games, these are quite entertaining. First is an X-Wing style base that is the same size as FFG's small fighter base, but it is twice as long to accommodate the longer model. It has a front to the base, denoted by the 90-degree lines which denote the firing arc. I just put the unit number on the base between the front and back legs. You'll also need an AT-AT model. I used this great one by Kolo33:http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:215574 I didn't create the AT-AT model, but I made five of them and they turned out really well. Print the Kolo33 model at a 40.5% scale. Wookiepedia says an X-wing is 12.5 meters long and an AT-AT is 22.5 meters tall. If the toy X-wing is 1.8 inches long then the AT-AT would need to be 3.25 inches tall. This will get you there. Third, you may have to replace the cheek guns on the sides of the head. While I was cleaning off the supports most of them broke off. This isn't the model's fault, it wasn't intended to be printed this small. So, I included files for replacement cheek guns should you need them. The separate cheek guns Kolo33 provided were too delicate to use; again, not the model's fault. I also cut the heads off of each model. Two reasons: I wanted to re-position them a little bit so every model was different, and, I wanted a very clean print for the head with no support residue. If you print the head separately you can do it without supports. Kolo33 provided a full model as well as individual pieces, making this possible. Finally, I included a 3.25 inch tall cylinder in case you want to use another AT-AT model. First, put the cylinder on your printer's build plate. Then add the AT-AT model and adjust the scale until the top of the cylinder is at the top of the back. Finally, delete the cylinder and print. This way you know your AT-AT will be 3.25 inches tall; the correct scale for games of X-wing. These files are available as a free download.
