The Longbeam

“[…] the Republic's workhorses: Longbeams. Versatile vessels, each able to perform duties in combat, search and rescue, transport, and anything else their crews might require.” [from Light of the Jedi, Chapter Four]

“The Longbeam […] was state-of-the-art, a brand-new design from the Republic shipyards on Hosnian Prime. It wasn't a warship per se, but it was no pushover either. […] It was a tough, beautiful beast, no doubt about it.” [from Light of the Jedi, Chapter Six]

The Longbeam Cruiser was originally unused concept art for a resistance bomber for The Last Jedi, which found a place in the High Republic. [Article on starwars.com]

This Model

I was aiming for a 1:270 scale, but wasn't able to find the canon dimensions for the longbeam. I've scaled it to 50m in-universe, which seems about right given that a longbeam has a crew of 3 and space for 24 passengers. The model is 185.2mm long, 85.4mm wide and 16mm tall.

The model has a hole a the underside for a big pin and holder. The turrets at the front can be rotated.

I've based this model on illustrations from The Great Jedi Rescue. The longbeam appears from a single angle only (the same angle I've used in the render), which means that everything that's not visible from this angle I've had to make up.

Longbeams did appear in other illustrations, but those showed only very little. They seemed to be much closer to the original concept art for The Last Jedi though.

Print Instructions

The model is split into front ("longbeam-front.stl") and back ("longbeam-back.stl") sections. This reduces the number of supports. You can also use the full model ("longbeam-full.stl"), but I recommend using the split version.

Printed with PLA at 0.15mm layer height. Needs supports on buildplate.

For Light and Life.
