By popular demand, here is R1-G4. After studying images and the Hasbro figure, I determined that the figure was distinct enough for me to give it a try. He is intricate. Good photos are difficult to find of him, but I eventually discovered some excellent ones, so this rendition is as accurate as feasible. Enjoy. I am teaching myself to model by creating obscure background droids from Star Wars. Requests are welcome. After considering additional requests and comments, I have added a number of files to this project with various head options. There is the original head, which resembles the Hasbro figure more closely because it treats the magnetic grapple as an antenna. There is also a standard head. Additionally, there is a standard head with a peg hole sized for the crane in the new Disney sandcrawler. I have also added a little bulk to the peg of the telescope because, as you will notice if you printed the original file, the peg was slightly too small. I have updated again. There is now an alternative articulation available. The head still readily swivels, but it no longer detaches. A post with a flange and a ring have been added. The post passes through the ring, then presses into the body. A cavity in the head receives the ring, which then presses against it. The flange prevents the head from sliding off anymore. I have posted both a standard and a sandcrawler-friendly version of the model with this new articulation. Now, when the sandcrawler's crane picks him up, he remains intact.
