Star Trek TOS Type 2 Phaser

UPDATE: I somehow uploaded the files incorrectly, which caused alignment issues for printing. I've corrected the orientation and replaced the original STL files, hoping these will print better. I started building this phaser design using Corma's base files, but when I began printing, I discovered several shortcomings in the design. Some parts weren't well-suited for FDM printing, while others were incorrectly scaled for the finished phaser. I also simplified some complexity in the design. You need to print one of each part listed, except for the Type 2 main body parts. You can either print the left and right sides separately or use a file that combines them. The Type 1 phaser body is held together with four M3x6mm cap screws. I ground down the front pair of screws so they fit flush with the body. I used cap screws because I plan to add a blinking LED and coin-style battery in the future. The Type 2 trigger assembly consists of a ballpoint pen spring, cut in half, an M3x15mm cap screw, a 3mm length of 4mm OD x 3mm ID PTFE tube, and two M3 flat washers. The spring fits into the large hole of the trigger button and is held in by the two washers and cap screw. When assembling, press-fit the assembly into one half of the Type 2 Main Body with a washer on the outside and the other on the inside of the body. This allows for a spring-operated switch to be mounted inside the body to activate any electronics you want to add. I glued the body halves together. Print Settings: Printer: Monoprice Select Mini with 4th Dimension Mods extended bed Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: .4mm nozzle x .0875 layer height Infill: 10% Post-Printing: I painted the chrome parts with Rustoleum Bright Coat Metallic Finish spray paint.
