**Update: 12/17/18** A new base has been added with a modified hinge, making it easier to fit together. The pegs that plug into the body side are now 0.7mm long instead of 1mm on each side. This change allows for a smoother fit without requiring excessive force. **Update: 12/16/18** I printed out a set of original parts but encountered issues with the hinges being too stiff. The pegs meant to hold them together were deformed, so I uploaded new versions of all bodies and bases. These new models have been fitted with modified hinges that work well in PLA. **12/15/18** I was inspired by vesperk38's tricorder model but struggled to get the hinges to work without breaking. I imported their models into SketchUp, remade them from scratch, and added a new option for hinges after seeing Maker’s Muse's video on building and printing hinges. **The Files** There are three variants of tricorder available: * Flat: ideal for stickers/decals * Slider: physically detailed with a unique bottom left aspect * Wheel: similar to the slider variant but with a different detail Each variant has two versions: * Sensor: includes details preserved at increased layer heights * Without Sensor: offers three sensor bar options (sensor, 0.2, and 0.3) The "without sensor" version has been tweaked to fit without scaling in the slicer. **This is a work in progress.** I have not printed the models with new hinges yet, so some adjustments may be necessary for a seamless fit. I plan to split the models to print rounded edges accurately and have tested the hinges separately, which worked great. **FYI** The model is not completely accurate to TNG early models, but it's a personal interpretation with a slightly longer screen and sensor bar from the Voyager tricorder. Check out Neworbit's tricorder model for another take on this topic.
