Star Trek TNG Combadge (Communictaor)
thingiverse
This is a two-piece model of a combadge from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Measurements were taken directly from an official, licensed metal-cast combadge by QMX, who claims they used the original molds from the show's props. I referred to the pieces as "vector" (the silver part) and "pedestal" (the gold part). The tolerances are incredibly tight, allowing you to snap the vector into the pedestal with ease, ensuring it stays securely in place. Alternatively, a small amount of glue can be added for extra security. If you don't like the layered look, as seen in the second photograph, you can print the vector on its edge (though this will require using support). This gives the front of the combadge a unique and appealing appearance. Print Settings: Printer: Monoprice Maker Select Plus Rafts: Yes Supports: No Resolution: MAX Infill: Approaching 100% Notes: If both parts are printed flat, no support is needed. However, printing the vector with a raft can be helpful if you tend to have squished first layers.
