Building a replica of the iconic Starfleet badge from The Next Generation-era shows is an exciting project that requires meticulous attention to detail and accurate reference materials. After pouring over numerous sources, including primary references and screen-used badges, I have created what I believe to be the most precise representation of the combadge from Star Trek: The Next Generation. I am grateful for the invaluable assistance provided by Xscapes Sci-Fi Props' incredible casting of a genuine screen-used badge, which was a game-changer in helping me achieve accuracy. If you don't need to create your own badge, I wholeheartedly recommend Xscapes as their replicas are exceptional and unmatched. Their combadge is available at xscapesprops.com. Two meticulously crafted badges are included in the download: "export_finalHardEdgesv1.stl" and "export_softEdge_oldModel.stl". The former is based on an extensive analysis of reference materials, including a casting of a real badge, while the latter represents my previous attempt, which was later refined. Due to the inherent variance among screen-used badges, some discrepancies are normal. I recommend the hard edges badge as it is more complete and yields cleaner results. This project is released under a Creative Commons Attribution, Non-Commercial, Share Alike license, with one exception: for fan-films, productions (including games and digital projects), you may use the model however necessary, crediting me in the process.
