This is my interpretation of the Agonizer from the Mirror Mirror universe in STOS. An agony inducer was a handheld device used by Imperial personnel in the mirror universe to inflict intense pain for minor infractions. Serious offenses required the use of the agony chamber. (TOS: "Mirror, Mirror") In the prime universe, Klingons employed a similar instrument in 2268 to discipline their warriors. (TOS: "Day of the Dove") Arctus Baran used neural interface implants, installed in each member of his crew, as a means of enforcing absolute loyalty in 2370. (TNG: "Gambit, Part I", "Gambit, Part II") In 2372, mirror universe prisoners Kira and Garak were subjected to these torture devices by their captors to break their spirits and induce complete submission. (DS9: "Shattered Mirror")
