Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine Phaser Rifle
thingiverse
As seen mainly in Star Trek Deep Space Nine series, this Phaser Rifle kit can be printed using different colour filament for different colours of the kit, or painted. I have modelled in a 0.2mm tolerance on all parts, though in test printing some sanding and filing was necessary to get all pieces to fit together. The flashlight on top can be replaced with a straight combat rail as pictured. Both the base of the flashlight housing and the combat rail have provisions for 2 countersunk screws which can attach to their position using 2 rare earth magnets. This has been designed with provision for wiring, LED Lighting and (for those with the programming skills) you could even program a small circuit for sound/animation of lights etc. You could also print it as a fully static prop. Other parts required: 12 x small screws 2 x 10mmX2mm rare earth magnet discs 1 x rocker switch for the flashlight 1 x intermittent switch for the trigger 1 x high intensity white LED for the flashlight (and suitable Resistor for 9V power supply) 1 x high intensity coloured LED for the emitter (and suitable Resistor for 9V power supply) (I am using Yellow) 2 x 9V Battery snaps and batteries (or equivalent) (you could also use less power to suit your LED) Wire 1 x 480mm long length of 18mm PVC Pipe (as pictured) Paints Glue Bog (or other plastic putty for joining the back piece if you have to print in 2 parts) I will add more photos as I paint and assemble my printout, but the dry assembly has come together well. A lot of hours have gone into making this as accurately as I can from images online and from watching DS9, so please comment, show some love and buy me a coffee or 2 (contribute) and if you do print, please post some photos. UPDATE: After a few questions as to how to get the lens into the flashlight, I have changed the flashlight lens. It is now much thinner and narrower. I printed my version half thickness to the original and sanded off the sides so it just covered the hole for it, then twisted it slightly to get it into the hole. I have also uploaded a print of the lens for the sight. Yet to check how it fits. I am a little concerned about there being not enough hold between the magnets and the screws in the bottom of the flashlight, so I have updated parts 20 and 20a to include 10mm X 2mm rare earth magnets in the bottom of them instead of screws to hold them to the top of the main body. The original versions are still there though.
