Star Trek Shuttle Chair (TOS)

A fellow member of my makerspace was busy building a massive scale shuttlecraft from the iconic Star Trek series. The project's enormous, boasting dimensions of approximately 1/7 or even 1/8 scale. This maker needed some high-quality seats for his impressive creation. He opted to remix an Eames chair design that I discovered on Autodesk's Model Warehouse. I decided to remix this classic chair because the original sixties model bears a striking resemblance to the fiberglass chairs that were designed for the Galileo spacecraft. To make it compatible with my project, however, I had to slightly flatten the top surface of the chair. After thorough research, I stumbled upon a fitting match with the shuttlecraft's prop. Despite its similarities, modifying the design proved quite challenging. The original chair design was not particularly cooperative with my Afinia printer, which often tends to split in ABS. I managed to get one satisfactory print out of numerous attempts, and it took a considerable amount of time to finally succeed. As an alternative, I have created a separate UP3 file for the chair base that can be printed on both UP and Afini printers. In addition to the main design, I have also shared a specific component - the Chair Knob - which can be downloaded from Thingiverse under reference number 755500.
