The laser pistol, or hand laser, served as a directed-energy weapon used extensively by the United Federation of Planets during the early 23rd century. Laser pistols employed by Starfleet in the 2250s and 2260s boasted multiple power settings, capable of unleashing enough energy to blast through solid rocks, shatter security glass, and disintegrate humanoid-size androids with ease. Additionally, these laser pistols could be set to overload, resulting in a catastrophic chamber explosion. By the end of the 2260s, these weapons had become outdated and considered "old-style." This revised model features knurling on the barrel, mirroring the design of the original prop, and boasts an enlarged emitter hole for streamlined installation.
