UPDATE A number of popular 3D Printers feature a build platform that measures only 120mm3, prompting me to split some tools from this kit to accommodate that limited space. This multi-part project aims to replicate the components of a Star Trek TNG-era Starfleet engineering tool kit in various formats. Feel free to print them, create paper models, or render them digitally - model them however you like. Pictures or it didn't happen! Available tools include: - Phaser Welding Torch - Interphasic Coil Spanner - ODN Recoupler - EM Field Manipulator - Coil Spanner - Iso-Modulator - ODN Scanner - Sonic Driver - Phase Decompiler - EJ-7 Interlock How I Designed This Project The engineering tools in Star Trek were not consistently used for the same purpose or even by the same names. Production often repurposed props, while characters would discuss them without showing them on screen. Whenever possible, I've relied on screen shots and references of props used during production to stay true to the original. Other sources include Playmates' action figures. While artistic license is taken to some extent, many tools were never seen in detail, so I've filled in the gaps where necessary. I don't have extensive painting schemes to share, so I encourage makers to take their own creative liberties when finishing the models.
