The Star Tetrahedron is constructed from 10 Foldable Tetrahedron base units. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:78075. 8 of the tetrahedron are assembled as normal. 2 of the tetrahedron are partially folded and then assembled together into an octahedron. A tetrahedron is attached to each face of the octahedron forming the star tetrahedron. The final object looks like 2 large tetrahedron intersecting. Instructions -Printed 10 Foldable Tetrahedron base units. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:78075 -Assembled 8 tetrahedron and 1 octahedron (8 sides) using hot glue. -Removed excess hot glue from edges of assembled base units. -Scored thin cross hatching lines with hobby knife on faces of octahedron and on the bottom of each tetrahedron. -Used hot glue to attach a tetrahedron to each face of the octahedron. Initially tried used Zap-A-Gap CA+ brand glue with poor results. This glue has worked well on other plastic projects but not on this PLA print. Would like to see this thing made using two colors. Possibility of using this concept to create much larger structures. Imagine a 3D printer group meetup where everyone brings interchangeable base components to create a sculpture.
