Star of Astoroth (Multi-part Print)

I’ve wanted to make a Star of Astoroth ever since I first watched Bedknobs and Broomsticks – and very specifically the version that’s briefly seen on screen after the return from the Isle of Naboombu. This set of models has been designed to help fans recreate that version of the Star of Astoroth and requires some painting and gluing. The excellent Prop Culture series on Disney+ was the inspiration to finally start this project – a show all about key props from films that fall under the Disney banner from Mary Poppins to The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. I really wanted this replica to look as accurate as possible, with the cartoonish black outline and what appears to be black embossed text. To create this effect I decided to create inlays for the front and back that I could paint in the right shade of mottled green, and then glued into the main body of the medallion which was printed in white PLA and then sprayed black. The finishing touch was 1m of wide purple ribbon, creating a combination of the physical prop and the illustration of the medallion seen in the book in the film.
