Star nut housing (for printer boards)

Star nut housing (for printer boards)

thingiverse

I created this innovative nut housing to seamlessly mount a 50mm fan directly in front of my extruder without compromising on space due to the printerboard screws' considerable height. This ingenious design can be easily adapted for use anywhere where a slim-profiled nut housing is required, effectively serving as an ideal replacement for winged nuts. You can conveniently scale up or down this simplistic design to fit any specific nut, offering limitless flexibility and customization options. As it stands, the design is tailored specifically for UNC half nuts commonly found in my Printrbot 1302. Additionally, it should also be compatible with other machines that employ similar half nuts, such as the LC+. This nut housing significantly enhances the user's control over turning the nut, providing an incredibly precise feel and a substantial improvement compared to the original design. To boot, its sleek aesthetic makes for a visually appealing addition to any setup. Included with this download are both printable STL files and the original FreeCAD file.
