Star-Lord

As always, I will promote and reward the first people to post quality makes (must enable tips on your profile for a reward). A quality make is a successful, complete, hopefully decent-looking print at 50% scale or larger. This doesn't necessarily need to be painted, but extra bonus points if it is. Peter Quill, also known as his friends' nickname "I am Groot," hails from a planet of outlaws like Billy the Kid and John Stamos. He once had a dance-off to save the world, another time gave up the power of a celestial being because he loves his mom, and yet another time blew bubbles with The Mad Titan Thanos. He's had a pretty full life, and best of all, he's a member of Asgardians of the Galaxy, a group of heroes led by Thor. If this proves popular, I will work on other characters in the franchise as well as accessories and variants of this character if requested. So please post your makes, hit like, and provide feedback on what you would like to see in the comments. This is a model requested by KingMura on Thingiverse (yes, I take requests). Check out my page: https://www.thingiverse.com/RyanTheMast/designs for several more printable heroes and creatures. I have provided a few options to make printing and clean-up easier: There is a base and figure separately; it will likely need some glue to hold together, the base may need supports touching the build plate (not supports everywhere), and the figure without a base may be best to position on his back to hide supports but use your best judgment. I have also given a version with a more basic base that will be quicker to print and easier to remove supports. Update! 5/17/19: As requested, I have provided a version with the Star-Lord model on his back in the ideal position for printing to reduce and hide support clean-up. Update! 5/17/19: As requested, I have provided a few different split model options to make printing easier, reduce support use, and hopefully save some headache in clean-ups. Thank you for the feedback, Justin87! Update! 5/18/19: Uploaded yet another split to help reduce supports; this time separating the head from the body. If I get free time, I will alter all of these to include peg-together additions for a non-glue easy-to-align result. Thank you to my supporters for the feedback! There are now many options depending on how you like to print your models; I hope this helps. Update! Justin87 (https://www.thingiverse.com/Justin87/about) and Lifay64 (https://www.thingiverse.com/lifay64/about) are the winners of this thing's First Make Awards! Please check out their pages for more great makes. Update! Lifay64 (https://www.thingiverse.com/lifay64/about) is also the first winner of one of this thing's Unique Make Awards; they made an outstanding fully painted version of the model, check it out some of their other great makes by clicking the link above. Happy printing!
