Star for Diffraction Grating Test
cults3d
I created this tiny star to test printing on a diffraction grating sheet, inspired by an article that sparked my imagination and guided me through the process with suggestions from another article I discovered later. The sheet gets placed on the print bed and the first layer of the print picks up the minuscule grooves in its surface. The printed design then diffracts light as well. I successfully printed several stars in the same spot on the sheet without any issues with adhesion. A dual-axis sheet with 13,500 lines per inch was used, which can be found easily on Amazon. This fun little model got me thinking about more ideas for future prints! The colors look their best under strong, direct light, and it's really cool!
