Star for Diffraction Grating Test
thingiverse
I created this tiny star to test printing on a diffraction grating sheet. I was inspired by an article on Reddit and followed some suggestions in another online resource. The sheet is placed on the print bed, and the first layer of the print picks up the minuscule grooves on its surface. The surface of the print then diffracts light as well. I managed to print several stars in the same spot on the sheet without the plastic adhering to it. I used a dual-axis sheet with 13,500 lines per inch that can be found on Amazon. This little model was fun to create and has sparked more ideas for future prints. The colors look best under strong, direct light. It's really cool!
