Stanley Stemmed spear point originates from Doerschuk site (31Mg22) in Montgomery County, North Carolina. It dates back to Middle Archaic period (6000-5000 BC). The spear point is crafted from metavolcanic rock with precise dimensions: 69.9 mm in length, 36.4 mm in width and a thickness of 9.5 mm. The spear point bears the catalog number 312a183-1 and is part of North Carolina Archaeological Collection, stored at Research Laboratories of Archaeology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It was beautifully illustrated by Joffre L. Coe in The Formative Cultures of the Carolina Piedmont, published in Transactions of the American Philosophical Society vol. 54, pt. 5, in 1964, and Figure 31 showcases its design.
