Standing Woman, Ecclesia or Bathsheba
myminifactory
This full-body sculpture is a replica of an original sandstone piece discovered on the southern facade of Freiberg Cathedral. It portrays a standing woman wearing a crown and grasping both a scepter and scroll. The woman's identity remains unclear. However, due to its proximity to a blindfolded woman (Synagoga), it is possible that she serves as the counterpart to Ecclesia. Alternatively, some have proposed that the work depicts Bathsheba, a woman summoned by King David after he became enamored with her when he saw her bathing.
