sketchfab
Standing Stones of Yoxie, Pettigarths Field, Whalsay, Shetland Isles. The standing stones of Yoxie reveal an impressive Neolithic house that was excavated by CST Calder in 1954-5. Before excavation, only the tops of some stones protruded through peat, earning the site its name. Iron Age pottery and stone tools were found inside the house, indicating a secondary occupation phase. This house is known as 'The Standing Stones of Yoxie,' but a nearby Neolithic house, called Benie Hoose, is significantly larger. Additionally, there's a chambered cairn and cist on the hill overlooking the site. https://canmore.org.uk/site/1308/whalsay-standing-stones-of-yoxie Grid Reference: HU 58724 65216 Photographed: August 29, 2017 Model created: November 2017 & April 2020 using Agisoft MetaScape (standard)
