Standing Filament spool holder - 608 bearings
thingiverse
A remix of a spool holder I've been using on my CR-10 - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3501474, Originally I wanted a spool holder that was much more stable and prevents the filament spool from falling off - so far I have had no issues. A friend asked if I could make a version that would stand on a surface as he doesn't have a CR-10 but liked the spool holder with bearings better than his A frame. I quickly modified this to have feet while maintaining the ability to print without support. The two parts should still just glue together. The models are made with exact tolerances so you may need to sand the feet slightly where they interlock. I haven't printed this yet but it should work fine - I will update once I see a final printed version with photos. If you print this please post a make so I can see it in action. To build this, insert the bearings on one side, lay down glue on all the connecting points - superglue will work best - and join the other half. I have included the inner and outer versions of the holder as well as a complete STL to show how it looks finished as well as the openscad file. Don't print the complete version as you won't be able to insert the bearings. Depending on what surface you are placing this on, you may want to add some small rubber stick on feet to increase friction but as long as you have good bearings this shouldn't be needed.
