myminifactory
The Empathetic Bodhisattva Guanyin has long been a beloved deity among Chinese Buddhists. Frequently referred to by her Sanskrit name 'Avalokitesvara', Guanyin is said to have originated from a radiant beam of light emitted by the Buddha Amitabha. This characteristic representation depicts her wearing a headdress that incorporates the image of the Buddha Amitabha, surrounded by a delicate lotus halo (now partially damaged). In her left hand, Guanyin grasps a vase, said to quench the thirst of her devoted followers. This sculpture is crafted from granite and is believed to have been created between 575-625 in the Sui or early Tang dynasty. Gallery location: China, Room 47e, The T.T.
