The main objective of these designs is outlined in "Electrolysis Activation of Fused Filament Fabrication 3D Printed Electrodes for Electrochemical and Spectroelectrochemical Analysis," which is featured in the journal Analytical Chemistry, accessible at DOI:10.1021/acs.analchem.9b01331. This specific component is a simple electrode design with a cross shape that fits perfectly into the "cap for electrochemical experiments" at a consistent height. We have printed this part using both ProtoPasta (https://www.proto-pasta.com/products/conductive-pla) and BlackMagic (http://www.blackmagic3d.com/default.asp) PLA-composite 3D printing filaments. Activation of the electrode is achieved through a soaking process, which significantly enhances its conductivity. Experimental results show an enhancement of conductivity over three orders of magnitude.
