I'm building an OTVinta servo-driven digital clock, and it's mounted on a plywood base with five separate components indexed by wood dowels. The stand-off rings lift the base pieces up off the painted surface, while the dowel caps add a touch of elegance to the ends of the dowels, dressing them up for visual appeal.
