Stand for Raider Corvette This stand is scaled to match the raider corvette that I uploaded to Thingiverse and the standard, huge ship size base. This stand requires the following two Things: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4038515 Stl file titled: "huge-base-long.stl" and https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3696406 Stl file titled: "Flight_Stand_65mm.stl" The stand is a little bit complicated because it uses tension and compression to keep the rigidity. I had tried several times with the CR-90 I printed to make a stand that was secure but would also work with the standard huge ship base allowing all of the measurements, and movement templates to remain consistent. This is the best that I could come up with that met these criteria: a. Held the ship by gravity. The ship will lift off easily, but this in not a problem while playing because the huge ship movement templates slide the ships, not lifting them. b.can be disassembled for storage c. use the standard size base d. does not cover any of the standard cardboard pilot card. In this, I had to compromise. The tension arc covers the centre section, however, it does have a centre mark for finding the front/rear axis and does align with the existing cardboard arcs, so measurements can be taken easily. e. be able to hold ID marker numbers f. be able to hold turret indicators g. Hold the 555mm ship high enough to allow smaller ships to fly under it. Assembly: 1 - check for snug fits. This is important between Top-Top & Top-Bottom, Bottom-Top & Bottom-Bottom. These pairings should fit into each other and are not glued. These joints provide compression but also disassembly. I had to file these slightly, but I think a tight fit is better than a loose one as they will loosen with use. 2 - Glue Bottom-bottom to huge-base-long 3 - Glue Bottom-top the bottom of Flight_Stand_65mm 4 - Glue Top-bottom to the top of Flight_Stand_65mm 5 - Glue Top-top to the crossbar. Make sure you have it oriented in the correct direction for the front of the crossbar. It doesn't really matter if the sliding notches are facing forward or rearward, but make sure that the base front is facing the crossbar front or the movement template will have the ship flying backwards. 6 - Glue front support and rear support to the crossbar. 7 - The arch provides tension and the two pieces can be friction fit together. After the glue has set up, this can be sandwiched between the crossbar and base. When assembled this should fit tightly. The stand does work without the arch but is pretty wobbly. Printed with PLA. 3 perimeters, 15% infil seems to be plenty strong. I used supports on some parts.
