This is an alternative base for the "Progressive Detail Moon Lamp". This one swaps the rechargeable battery for a very simple, throwy-style LED + CR2032 battery combination. The battery holder also acts as a switch (the battery clicks into either the "on" or "off" position). See my "Polar scope illuminator" for more details on the battery holder/switch

Print instructions

Category: Decor Summary

This is an alternative base for the "Progressive Detail Moon Lamp". After 2-3 layers of ugly overhangs, the print will correct itself and all the ugliness is hidden in a nearly invisible part of the stand.

How I Designed This

The base is a rotate_extrude of a bezier curve drawn in inkscape (file attached). This is then topped with a threaded extension that should fit in the base of the moon lamp.

Some assembly required

Print the base and the battery holder. Insert the LED leads into the battery holder. Now push the battery holder in the base and insert the battery in the "off" position. The LED can be switched on and off by moving the battery between the "off" and "on" positions.
