Stand for Freedom Scientific Ruby magnifier
thingiverse
This really is a highly specialized application. It'll be fascinating to see if anyone at all downloads it. My eyesight is starting to decline, and I recently started using my late mother's Ruby magnifier to read the clues of the Sydney Morning Herald cryptic crossword which I attempt over breakfast (but not Friday's one, which usually completely baffles me). I got tired of holding the magnifier so I designed and built this stand. The stand is highly specialized in two ways - specifically for the Ruby magnifier, and at a height that shows the full width of the clue at minimum magnification and still large enough for me to read it with ease. Designed in MOI, and built on a Robox using Robox ABS. Instructions It's very easy to make as long as you ensure you orient the parts correctly before printing. The holes are sized for 3mm screws. I used 3mm x 8mm long (OAL) button head cap screws.
